OncoRobot
Robotic system for lung cancer treatment by X-ray therapy
Project OncoRobot
Innovative medical equipment for radiation therapy
The main development feature is the integration of a unique low-energy X-ray source, a collaborative robot, and a dosimetric planning software package into a single medical system.
Problem
What problem is solved by the OncoRobot?
More than 2,000,000 people die from lung cancer worldwide every year. The high mortality rate is due to the high number of relapses. The existing treatment protocol: surgical removal of the tumor followed by external beam radiation therapy does not improve clinical results.
Solution
Equip the surgeon with new medical robotic radiation therapy equipment that can work in any operating room without the need for re-equipment.

The intuitive interface of the haptic device allows you to control the robot directly by the surgeon.
How it works?
1
Low Energy X-ray Tube
Generates ionizing radiation directly at the site of exposure. Provides a shallow penetration depth - up to 10 mm
2
Collaborative robotic arm
Provides high positioning accuracy X-ray source - 0.1 mm and safety for the patient medical staff
3
Software
Allows you to automatically calculate the radiation dose and control the robot in automatic mode
Prototype
Appointment
The OncoRobot system is designed to irradiate the tumor bed after its surgical removal. Provides high-precision robotic navigation of the radiation source inside the patient's body (± 0.1 mm) through the use of laser ranging technology in combination with a software package for navigation, allows the formation of the necessary radiation spectrum, which will ensure complete absorption of the dose without harm to adjacent tissues, allows the dose rate on the tissue surface is 2 orders of magnitude higher due to the minimization of the distance between the source and the target (in comparison with methods of external radiation therapy).
Haptic device
The specialized mechanical interface haptik-device allows the surgeon to control the robot directly, with minimal training time.
Dosimetric calculation
Built-in software allows calculation of radiation dose in a given area when planning procedures
